Welcome Home Appreciation and Gratitude... ‘Vanessa Fluker“

To Vanessa Fluker,

Thank you for coming onboard as the lawful arm to support indigenous aborigine peoples of Maipuri Arauan Nation. We welcome you as our NEW Interim Attorney General for the Maipuri Arauan Nation (MAN)!

Ms. Fluker is a licensed attorney practicing in Michigan. She practices in State and Federal Courts, and is admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court. She is also a board member of the National Lawyers Guild, Detroit, MI Chapter and a member of the Black Women's Lawyers' Association of Michigan.

Ms. Fluker won the 1*t Supreme Court case in Michigan holding that MERS which is a temporary holding organization for mortgages having no standing to foreclose. She has won cases asserting that the failure to evaluate loans for modifications is a defense to a foreclosure. This includes a plethora of other cases standing with our people against corruption for Michigan indigenous populated communities and the 1“ Federal Court case ever in Michigan on inhuman prison treatment for “Exhaustion of Remedies”. With our new Attorney General, we as a nation of tribes of the Maipuri will be able to do so many things for moving forward in protecting our people, protecting our lands, and protecting our tribal assets while preserving our way of life.

Her efforts in and out of court have saved numerous homes. Ms. Fluker was given the honor of Housing Advocate of the Year for 2009, by the United Housing Coalition and received the prestigious Harriet Tubman Award in 2010 for her tireless efforts to fight against foreclosure, eviction, and predatory lending. In April of 2011, Ms. Fluker received the Golden Gavel Award from the Wolverine Bar Association for her assisting low income and senior citizens facing foreclosure in the community. Fluker received the Frank Kelly Justice Award from the Consumer Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and in November 2012, Lifetime Achievement Award from United Community Housing for her work fighting foreclosures and evictions related to predatory lending. In April 2013, she received the Community Activist award from the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights for her foreclosure work on behalf of consumers. Ms. Fluker's work has been nationally recognized, and she was invited to testify before the U.S. Congress Judiciary Committee on December 15, 2010, and the U.S. Congress Financial Committee on August 4, 2019, on foreclosure issues and its effects on the community. As an advocate for many who would not otherwise have a voice in the judicial system, Ms. Fluker is a firm believer that everyone should be able to obtain justice regardless of your perceived status in our society.
